Extremely Heartwarming

On Sunday night, I was waiting for the new episode of Desperate Housewives to FINALLY come on when I decided to watch the show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Five minutes into the show I had tears in my eyes. The show is about building new homes for American families in need. Like really in need. These aren't your average "poor" family. The families who are chosen have really sad stories about their lives and homes. For example, the episode I most recently watched was about a woman raising her 3 children in a house that literally was missing parts of the walls. The family's plumbing had gotten so bad that they had to use a bag to dispose of you know what after using the toilet because it wouldn't flush. The mother of this family ran a store that sold used medical clothes out of her living room. Although it was called a store, she rarely made people pay for the clothing because she knew that they needed it. This woman also helped raise half a million dollars to help hurricane Katrina survivors. Needless to say, she is an amazing woman. The people in her neighbourhood didn't even know about the conditions her and her family were living in. She never let anyone know. Her and her children are believers in helping others before themselves. If it weren't for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, this family would still be living in a house full of holes. I love that there is at least one show on T.V. that is actually helping people. I think it's amazing what they do for these families. They didn't just build this family a new home, but also they paid of the mortgage and set up college funds for all three children. Well it is a really great show. If you are into things like this, I suggest you check it out.

It's nice to see a show that is helping people while they exploit them for ratings. They could definitely come and exploit me for ratings, but fortunately, my life is not a tear jerker.
